No Voice Should Go Unheard
Holding Teachers Responsible For Abuse
We give teachers a lot of power when we enroll our children or ourselves in their classes. It’s up to them to set the classroom tone, evaluate student progress and establish boundaries. When that classroom door is closed, we depend on teachers to be fair and respectful at all times.
While most teachers respect the authority they’re given, those who don’t can negatively affect their pupils for years. If you or your child has suffered through an abusive situation in the classroom, I want you to know that you are not to blame for this abuse. I am Debbie Nelson, and I am ready to advocate for you.
Protecting Children Who Have Been Abused In School
Children and young adults often feel confused and ashamed when their teachers engage in inappropriate conduct. Child predators take advantage of these emotions, using fear to silence child abuse victims.
If you believe that your child has been subjected to abuse, it is critical that you report it to your child’s school immediately.
Please call The Nelson Law Firm after you file your report. I am here to amplify your child’s voice. I will use the law to get justice and prevent other children from experiencing verbal, emotional, physical or sexual abuse.
Defending Young Adults On College Campuses
In a college classroom, it is just as important for professors to respect boundaries. Unfortunately, professors have less oversight than elementary or high school teachers, making it easier for them to engage in these illegal or inappropriate behaviors:
- Making sexual or lewd comments
- Making unwanted advances or touching students inappropriately
- Requesting sexual favors in exchange for favorable grades
- Assault or rape
Situations can escalate quickly over the course of a term or semester. This is why it is important to get help: Taking a stand today may put a stop to misconduct on campus tomorrow.
Talk to me on the phone or online so we can develop a plan together. I am dedicated to protecting you from these advances so you can feel safe.
